MERIDIAN —     How you handle your 401(k), pension, or other employer-sponsored retirement plans when you leave your job is one of the most important financial decisions you can make. Get the facts you need to make informed decisions on Thursday, June 12, as Edward Jones presents “Roll It, Take It, Leave It, Move It: Know Your Employer Retirement Plan Options,” a free community education seminar from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 109 U.S. 11, in the Northeast Conference Center.

Presented by Lisa Mabry, the workshop is the third in a series of free seminars to be sponsored by local Edward Jones financial advisors throughout the year.

The Retirement Plan Options seminar will focus on a number of topics, including:

    • The most common distribution options

    • How to avoid having the IRS withhold 20 percent of your retirement distribution

    • Special considerations if you own employer stock

    • Factoring taxes, penalties and investment options into your decision

Subsequent community educational seminar topics include “Roth IRAs: Retirement Can Be Less Taxing,” to be presented by Sam Weir on Aug. 14th. All seminars are sponsored by local independent Edward Jones Financial Advisors Fred J. Porter, Mary J. Malone, Lisa M. Mabry, Samuel T. Weir Jr. and Jay Jenkins.     Attendance is open to anyone interested in learning about the featured topics of discussion and registration is free.
