MERIDIAN —     What role will Medicare play during your retirement? Learn more about the effects of increasing health care costs on retirees on Thursday, May 8, as Edward Jones presents “Health Care and Your Retirement,” a free community education seminar from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn, 109 U.S. 11.

Presented by Mary J. Malone, the workshop is the second in a series of free seminars to be sponsored by local Edward Jones financial advisors throughout the year.

“We are extremely pleased to be able to offer free educational seminars like this to our community. The increasing cost of health care is a growing concern for current and future retirees. In fact, 25 years ago, retirees spent almost twice as much on food as on health care; now the amounts are nearly equal,” Malone said.

The Health Care and Retirement seminar will focus on a number of topics, including:

    • Medicare coverage and traditional medical expenses

    • Long-term medical care expenses

    • Strategies for addressing uncovered expenses

Subsequent community educational seminar topics include “Roll It, Take It, Leave It, Move It: Know Your Employer Retirement Plan Options,” to be presented by Lisa Mabry on June 12, and “Roth IRAs: Retirement Can Be Less Taxing,” to be presented by Sam Weir on Aug. 14.

All seminars are sponsored by local independent Edward Jones Financial Advisors Fred J. Porter, Mary J. Malone, Lisa M. Mabry, Samuel T. Weir Jr. and Jay Jenkins. Attendance is open to anyone interested in learning about the featured topics of discussion and registration is free.

Refreshments will be served at each seminar. For more information, call 601-482-5400.
