Renowned folk-rock singer Art Garfunkel brings his solo act to Meridian for a 7:30 p.m. concert with a pre-show party at 6 p.m.
While it’s difficult for some to separate his name from that of Paul Simon, Art Garfunkel has been making his own beautiful music for many years since the five-time Grammy-award duo of Simon & Garfunkel stopped recording.
But the pair’s friendship and their work together still influence Garfunkel’s long and storied career. In 2003, they received the Grammy’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
In the early 1970s, Garfunkel began crafting the first of many solo albums, the most recent of which was released in 2007. He has staged concerts and toured occasionally most every year in the last two decades, performing in the United States as well as overseas.
“The Singer” will be released in later this month on Sony Classics. It will be a retrospective CD of his almost 50-year career as well as some new songs.
Tickets are $59-$65. Visit www.msurileycenter.com or call (601) 696-2200 for more information.
