Local hip-hop/rap artist Young Sacé is working on a new project with his producer, Antonio Naylor.
They hope to have the new CD, the second in their "Hungry Why Wait" series available by Nov. 1. It's titled "City On My Back."
Young Sacé, whose name is Chad Hardy, works at a local hospital and holds his master's in business administration from Belhaven College. He wants young people who are interested in music to understand they can continue their education and still be a performer. A person does not have to sacrifice one of those interests for the other.
Hardy has worked with other rap and hip-hop artists from here such as BIG KRIT and Joe Montana in Naylor's home studio.
"We call it the kitchen, because that's where we cook everything up," Hardy said.
Hardy and Naylor have worked together for about two years. A graphic artist, Naylor does the recording, mixing, the beats, and artwork for the CDs at his No Talk Productions.
"As far as Meridian hip-hop for local artists, we're just now beginning to expand," Hardy said.
It's still difficult for area hip-hop artists to get exposure, however.
"We're definitely swimming against the current," Hardy said.
"I want passionate hip-hop artists to know we can record them," Naylor said.
Influences include Notorious BIG, Andre 3000 and Kanye West.
