ECCC PHI THETA KAPPA inductees

These outstanding East Central Community College students were inducted into Theta Xi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two-year colleges, at the fall induction ceremony held in Huff Auditorium on the Decatur campus. Honorees and their respective home towns include: (first row, from left) Julie Clark and Angela Reeves, both of Newton; Megan Thaggard, Carthage; and Lacye Harrison, Newton; (second row, from left) Payton Smith, Forest; Bethany Jones, Philadelphia; Emily Price, Walnut Grove; Shanna Culpepper, Forest; and Chelsey Smith, Brandon; and (third row, from left) Corey Burton, Philadelphia; Zach Yates, Decatur; Joseph McBeath, Carthage; and Justin Laster, Pelahatchie. ECCC Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Jimmy Hollingsworth of Lake was guest speaker. ECCC President Dr. Billy Stewart and Vice President for Instruction Dr. Teresa Houston also provided remarks. EC staff members Amanda Walton, Chris Ryals and Jenna Wright serve as Theta Xi advisers. Phi Theta Kappa is the largest honor society on American higher education with more than two million members and 1,200 chapters located in the 50 United States, U.S. territories, Canada and Germany.
