East Mississippi Community College and Columbus Air Force Base’s International Spouses organization held their 10th annual luncheon recently at Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point. The International Spouses group serves as a support organization for the wives of foreign and American service members stationed at CAFB. The annual luncheon serves as a social mixer and an opportunity for the wives to share their heritage by wearing traditional clothing from their native countries. EMCC partners with International Spouses via its CAFB extension campus to offer classes for college credit or audit as part of a Listening Service. The Listening Service provides the opportunity for foreign wives to sharpen their English speaking, writing and comprehension skills while experiencing American higher education. At the Airman and Family Readiness Center on base, EMCC Workforce Services offers the spouses short-term training classes that will lead to portable employment credentials.
