More adventures could be in the offing in the year ahead. Although you’ll choose most of these activities, many unforeseen pursuits and projects will occupy your time as well. Many will be of the pleasurable kind.

CAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 19) — Select your companions with care. Otherwise, you could be burdened with someone who will have no money in his or her pocket and saddle you with the tab.

AQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Your usual easygoing, charming personality may be nowhere to be found, so unless you’re extremely careful, you could step out of character and be far too opinionated and sarcastic.

PISCES (Feb. 20-March 20) — The day may be riddled with unforeseen complications, so don’t deliberately try your hand at accomplishing some difficult tasks. Leave them for another time when you’re thinking more clearly.

ARIES (March 21-April 19) — You’re not being mean. On the contrary, you’re doing your youngsters a favor by cracking down on them when they step over the line. Spoiling them now will spoil their future.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20) — There are some days when you need some space for yourself, and this might be one of them. If there is too much going on in the household, find a quiet corner where you can be alone.

GEMINI (May 21-June 20) — Be optimistic, but not to the point of being unrealistic. It’s good to be hopeful as long as you’re viewing things through clear lenses instead of rose-colored ones. Discern the difference.

CANCER (June 21-July 22) — It’s always wise to avoid deficit spending if you can, especially if you’re counting on funds yet to be received. They might be needed to cover unexpected emergencies.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22) — You could be too easily influenced by a colleague’s interests, which don’t serve anyone. Be realistic and think for yourself.

VIRGO (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) — It’s hard for you to say no, but before assuming someone else’s responsibilities, be sure that you know what you’re getting into. This person could be dumping big trouble into your lap.

LIBRA (Sept. 23-Oct. 23) — If you’re planning an outing with friends or family, go to familiar places where you know how to get there and what to expect. Unknown entities could be riddled with confusion and trouble.

SCORPIO (Oct. 24-Nov. 22) — Be prepared for the competition to give you fits and you might be able to offset their antics. They could have tricks up their sleeves ready to spring just when you’re reaching for your goal.

SAGITTARIUS (Nov. 23-Dec. 21) — Don’t profess to know about things where you merely have cursory knowledge. Someone is apt to use a depth detector and come up with a reading that would be embarrassing to you.
