GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) — An Ocean Springs man has been sentenced to 16 months in prison for fraudulently obtaining $46,352 from the Small Business Administration and the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Hurricane Katrina disaster funds.
Robert Scott Manley had pleaded guilty in February to one count of stealing government funds he was not entitled to by making false statements to FEMA and the SBA to obtain a low interest loan.
On Tuesday, U.S. District Court Judge Louis Guirola also ordered Manley to pay restitution, perform 80 hours of community service and serve three years of post-release supervision.
Prosecutors say Manley used most of the money to buy drugs, a car and to gamble at casinos.
