GREENWOOD, Miss. (AP) — A couple allegedly involved in an accident with a Greenwood police officer in November is suing the city, the police chief and the patrolman.
Georgette Smart and her husband, Nathaniel Regular, say they want $500,000 for injuries sustained in the accident as well as punitive damages.
Assistant Chief Huntley Nevels said Friday the department had not been contacted about the lawsuit and had no comment at the time.
The lawsuit claims Officer Curtis Alford had his flashing lights on but no siren on Nov. 28 when he hit the couple's car at traffic light.
The lawsuit represents only one side of a legal argument.
